Cognizant (NASDAQ: CTSH) is a global provider of information technology, consulting and business process outsourcing services headquartered in Teaneck, N.J. Cognizant was founded in1994 as an IT development and maintenance services arm of The Dun & Bradstreet Corporation. The company was spun off as an independent organization two years later. Since 1996, Cognizant has worked closely with large organizations to help them build stronger, more efficient, and more agile businesses.

Challenge

In addition to their existing core business, Cognizant wanted to set up a private, online community to support and link CIOs, IT Directors and Business Managers at Cognizant’s client firms. This required new technology but they did not have internal staff with the required skills. It is unlikely that they are going to require these skills on a frequent enough basis to justify employing a developer on a full-time basis.

Solution

Jamaza originally assigned a senior developer on a full-time basis to analyse and implement an online Joomla community with extensive modifications beginning in 2008. Since then, Jamaza have provided ongoing support and development.

Currently, Jamaza provide a senior developer that works part-time for Cognizant but who is always on call at short notice for any new functionality that is needed or issues that need fixing.
